DAY 1: Swakopmund → Namib Desert → Sossusvlei

Your adventure begins with an early-morning departure from Swakopmund, leaving the Atlantic coast behind as you travel inland towards the Namib Desert.

As the landscape changes from coastal plains to rugged mountains and expansive desert scenery, your professional guide will share insights into Namibia’s geography, history, wildlife, and remarkable desert-adapted ecosystems.

Stop at Solitaire

A highlight of the journey is Solitaire, the famous desert outpost known for its rustic atmosphere and legendary apple pie. Take a break, explore the quirky surroundings, and enjoy a taste of this much-loved Namibian stop before continuing towards the Namib-Naukluft region.

By afternoon, you arrive at your accommodation near Sossusvlei and have time to check in, relax, and take in the peaceful desert surroundings.

DAY 2: Sossusvlei → Deadvlei → Iconic Dunes → Swakopmund

Rise early for one of the most memorable moments of the journey: entering the park before sunrise to watch the first golden light sweep across Namibia’s towering dunes. The morning is dedicated to exploring the iconic landscapes of the Sossusvlei area.

Dune 45

Visit Dune 45, one of Namibia’s most recognisable dunes. Those who wish can climb partway up the dune, while others can admire its striking shape and capture photographs as the morning light brings out the rich red tones of the sand.

Deadvlei

Continue to Deadvlei, the surreal white clay pan surrounded by towering red dunes and scattered with ancient camelthorn trees.

Take your time to explore, photograph, and simply experience the extraordinary stillness of this landscape. Your guide will share the geological story behind the area, as well as insights into the incredible ways plants and animals have adapted to survive in one of the world’s harshest environments.

After exploring Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, begin the journey back towards Swakopmund.
